When is the deadline for submitting claims?

You can file 2023 FSA claims until March 31, 2024 for services received in 2023 while you were working at A-B

You can file 2024 FSA claims until March 31, 2025 for services received while you were working at A-B during 2024

You can file 2023 FSA claims until March 31, 2024 for services received in 2023 while you were working at A-B

You can file 2024 FSA claims until March 31, 2025 for services received while you were working at A-B during 2024

You can file 2024 DCFSA claims until March 31, 2025 for services received in 2024

Who can you use the money for?

Yourself, your spouse and your tax dependents (whether or not they are enrolled in the plan)

Your children under age 13 and/or eligible adult dependents

What happens if you choose to leave A-B?

Your contributions will end when you stop working. You will be able to file claims until March 31 of next year for services received while you were working at A-B this year for HCFSAs and LFSAs.

For the DCFSA, if you separate employment during the year, you can continue to incur and claim day care expenses, up to the amount you contributed while employed, through the end of the plan year.

The only FSA you can combine with a Health Savings Account is a Limited Flexible Spending Account. If you enroll in both accounts, please plan to use your Limited FSA funds first.

You may consider enrolling in an HSA and a LFSA if:

  1. You expect to have vision or dental expenses equalling the full amount you contribute to the LFSA
  2. You think you will need the full amount you contribute to your LFSA on January 1st of the following year for dental and vision expenses
  3. You want to keep your HSA funds socked away for the future and you will still have dental or vision expenses that you want to use pre-tax funds to cover.
