Supplemental MetLife & Voluntary Critical Illness, Accident, Hospital Indemnity Insurance and Whole Life Benefits

A-B offers the following Supplemental or Voluntary benefits if you want to have an increased level of financial protection.

Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance through MetLife

We understand wanting to take care of your family members. Supplemental Life Insurance from MetLife gives you the flexibility to choose the level of income protection for your family that you want.

If you sign up for Supplemental Life Insurance, you will have access to will preparation & estate resolution services and grief counseling (username: metlifeassist password: support).

If you elected Supplemental Life Insurance and you're wondering what EOI means, it means evidence of insurability. For Life Insurance elections above a certain level (for Salaried, typically more than one times your salary or for spouse/domestic partner coverage amounts over $50,000), you will be asked to provide additional information to MetLife.

Supplemental Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance is offered in case you think you are at increased risk of the loss of a limb or other accidental injury.

Voluntary Critical Illness, Accident, Hospital Indemnity Insurance and Whole Life Benefits

Please review the Life Insurance, AD&D Insurance and STD coverage provided by A-B (which may be provided at no cost to you) before you consider voluntary Voya benefits. These benefits are paid by you through post-tax payroll deductions.

If you sign up for one of these plans, please don't forget to file claims to Voya!

Critical Illness

If you're concerned about the financial impact of a major illness, such as a heart attack, stroke, or cancer, this benefit can help with the financial costs by paying a lump sum (up to $30,000) directly to you once you or a covered family member is diagnosed with a covered condition.

Accident Insurance

If you're accident prone (we can be, too!), Accident Insurance can help cover the out-of-pocket medical expenses and extra bills that can follow a covered injury to you or your eligible dependent.

Get your money's worth - file a claim to Voya if a covered injury occurs.

Hospital Indemnity

Going to the hospital is never fun, but getting paid after you go makes it a tiny bit better. If you know you'll have a hospital stay, Hospital Indemnity pays a benefit directly to you if you or a covered family member receive in-patient hospital care (such as an in-patient stay for delivering a baby).

Helps cover the out-of-pocket medical expenses and extra bills that can follow an accident by paying a benefit to you if you or an eligible dependent suffer a covered injury.

Whole Life

If you want additional life insurance protection for yourself or your spouse/domestic partner, tax deferred cash accumulation (based on current tax laws), and cash value loan privileges*, you may consider Whole Life Insurance.

You and your spouse or domestic partner (up to age 70) can enroll. If you and your spouse or domestic partner are both A-B employees, you're not alone - there are many folks who met at A-B! Congrats to you both! That said, you can only be covered by one policy; you can't be covered by both an employee and a spouse or domestic partner policy.

*Please refer to your eligibility administrative booklet, which is available in the Benefits Portal's Financial Wellbeing section, for details.
