The benefits of prevention
What is preventive care and which medications are preventive?
Preventive Care
Preventive care can help detect or prevent serious diseases, which is why it preventive care is 100% covered - free - under A-B medical plans. Examples include one annual check up with an in-network doctor, mammograms (1 per calendar year, usually after the age of 40) and vaccinations.
If you're concerned about being charged, ask your doctor to confirm that they will bill your medical plan for a preventive visit (not a diagnostic visit).
Preventive Medications
If you enroll in A-B's Cigna Basic or Standard plans, many preventive medications are free (including some blood thinners, diabetes and high blood pressure meds, along with other medications). Check out the full list in the Benefits Portal.
